las posadas night five

As I was walking around the corner this afternoon on the way to a gringa fiesta, I was greeted on the street by three young boys who recognized me from the posadas and said something about "photos." I felt honored.

At 8 this evening I went, once again, to the next designated house and the ritual repeated all over again. We said the prayers, sang songs, lit candles and walked around the corner to the next house.

This time the new "inn" was on Orizaba at the herrero's house right next to the taco stand. An herrero is an ironsmith who makes beautiful wrought iron furniture, grills, grates...you name it.

After ponche and other goodies, the men hoisted the rope for the pinata from one side to the other across this well travelled thoroughfare. If traffic had to stop while one of the kids took his/her turn trying to break the pinanta, so be it. Cars would simply have to wait.

Tomorrow night, we pick up where we left off and while it's the same, I am curious to discover the new setting this time.
